Welcome to the Chanctonbury County Local Committee (CLC) section of the ‘talk with us’ website.  The Committee consists of County Councillors; Pat Arculus, Lionel Barnard, Derek Deedman and Frank Wilkinson. The four electoral divisions we represent (Pulborough, Henfield, Bramber Castle and Storrington respectively) form the Chanctonbury CLC area which means we are aware of many of the issues that directly affect our area and our lives.

The Committee meets in public four times a year and provides a forum for you to come and directly address any issues or concerns you have to your elected representatives. These may regard your street, your village, your town or your county; whatever it is your voice will always be welcomed.

Chanctonbury CLC is aware of the situation of local and rural communities within our area and is committed to protecting the vitality and viability of local services that sustain our community and shape its character. We strongly support the retention of Post Offices and the expansion of bus routes across our area.

The loss of local services counteracts the case for the substantial house building targets with affordable homes for local people from central government. We must consider the interrelation of these issues and the impact of housing development on our area.

At a recent meeting there was a presentation about the future of waste disposal in West Sussex and the Materials Resource Management Contract (MRMC). We know that this is a subject of much contention in Chanctonbury with the presence of landfill sites and possible sites for new waste management facilities.

The Committee recognises the necessity of committing a certain amount of waste to landfill but we retain a determination to increase the level of recycling to directly diminish the importance of this method of disposal. Please access our Website for further details on the MRMC. If you have any points of view or comments you can always send these to us by email at talkwithus@westsussex.gov.uk
